Water mains supplies

Water main supplies: who’s responsible?

When it comes to installing, repairing or servicing your water mains, it can be tricky to know whether you are responsible for the work, or it’s down to your local water supplier to deal with the problem.

Generally speaking, as the property owner, you will need to address any damage that occurs to the water mains supply system from the point where the pipes meet the water meter. However, if you’re experiencing low water pressure or suspect there is a leak in the system, it is always worth calling your local water authority first and ask them to check their side of the network.
